Axe-like CDRH3 loops are those that are adopt a double-bent conformation ending with a beta sheet, and share features of both kinked and unkinked CDRH3 loops. These are found in some broadly neutralizing antibodies and can be predicted with some confidence (1). An important sequence motif is D105, D106, G113, S114, G115 (presumably IMGT numbering), although this was only determined in silico using structure prediction.
