Half of pathogenic mutations in intrinsically disordered regions improve binding to partners, or create new binding partners

Summary

Of ~350 screened mutations in the intrinsically disordered regions of 80 proteins shown to be pathogenic, half were shown to either enhance protein-protein interactions or create new interactions, while the other half shown to diminish binding (1).
