Summary

About two thirds (68.8%) of deletion mutations not tolerated by proteins, whereas tolerance to insertion mutations varied across proteins (more tolerated in six of nine proteins tested by authors; (1)). This is also true of out-of-frame insertions and deletions, which introduce a substitution.
